Mentor 4 is coming to town!
Yesterday I received my newsletter from NOVA, one of the biggest paraglider manufacturer in Europe, and I was very happy to find out that until the end of this month, the new Mentor 4 paraglider will be lunched. My first paraglider
was from NOVA and I was very happy with it, it was a NOVA Carbon manufactured in 2004 and I've used it until a few years ago every time I wanted to play around without destroying one of my new wings, I have to say that was a very durable wing. I've noticed that NOVA still uses the strongest fabric in the construction of their paragliding wings. Since then I've tested a lot of their wings and every time I fly one of their paragliders I land with a big smile on my face so the news that the new Mentor 4 is coming made me very happy. I can't wait to test it.
Since its first generation, the MENTOR series has been seen as the benchmark for XC EN B wings. Combining performance, safety and a big "feel good" factor, MENTOR paragliders have been ranked at the top of various worldwide XC online contests for the last six years and with each new generation they are clearly raising the bar. With the Mentor 4 paraglider the tradition continues.
A summary of the most important points for this paraglider that came in the newsletter that I've got from NOVA:
I will leave a link here to search for your local provider so you can test this wing, I'm pretty sure it worth it!

A summary of the most important points for this paraglider that came in the newsletter that I've got from NOVA:
- the Mentor 4 is THE intermediate (EN B) for cross-country pilots.
- More performance across the whole polar curve (+ 0.5 glide points) than its predecessor.
- Higher maximum speed.
- Better climb characteristics.
- Higher roll dampening (particularly when accelerated).
- It is aimed at the same target group (as the Mentor 2 and Mentor 3 paragliders).
- The aspect ratio is identical to the Mentor 3
Chief designer Philipp Medicus:
“Thanks to ever more precise computer simulations (Computational Fluid Dynamics) we completed the basic wing concept quickly. This gave us a lot more time to thoroughly test the MENTOR 4 even in really hard conditions and therefore to optimise the trim as well as the handling. Surely, one of the greatest strengths of the all the previous MENTORs is the actually achievable performance. Whether on epic days or with difficult weather conditions, MENTOR pilots always seem to top XC result rankings. We managed to improve on this strength.”
